Fantastic photo! The curvature of the train, the bright livery and blue sky, and the train is centred in the image. 10/10.

Hi there, I am wondering, is this carriage refurbished? Where are the luggage racks or space for luggage? Is it Standard Class or First Class? Are all or most Mark III carriages being refurbished? Do the passenger door buttons light up when the train is at a station? From Peter

It is one of the two Executive Carriages IE own for private functions but at the moment they are using it as a standard class carriage. Yes the passenger buttons light up when the train is at a station.

The Camera has difficulty picking up the LEDs sometimes. And when the train is moving the camera can register the movement of the destination.

hi,i would consider myself a casual type of rail enthusiast,i check the site everyday and love it.(among others) something that strikes me is the filth of some of the engines,eg this w-ends rail tour.it says a lot about irish rail in my view, also some of the stations are very grubby to look at,didnt think they would be in this day and age, limerick, and connolly to alesser extent come to mind, has this always been the case? cant see any excuse for filthy engines....am i missing something?
[#8840572] 2009-06-29 15:53:42 Left by Csalem (#0) Reply
Hi. I think the reason why 152 looks so grubby is that the Baby-GMs are slowly being withdrawn at the moment so they aren't really a priority. plus its the internals that matter the most. I think I put on one of the pictures that it was surprising that 171 failed as it looks much better. Also, the locos did pass through the wash plant at Connolly but the body shape is not really conducive to cleaning.

If you were prevented from taking shots at Gatwick, please make a point of complaining along the lines of "how is a visitor to know if there are no signs". UK enthusiasts are constantly hassled - although there is no law or bye-law prohibiting our passtime. Complain - and heep our hobby free from goons and jobsworths.
